Drum Leaf Binding: The Seamless Page Spread
Presented by Beth Lee
Our September program will be an overview of Beth Lee's upcoming November workshop. The Drum Leaf book was invented by Timothy Ely and inspired by traditional Japanese book structures. It's perfect for single-sided pages you want to make into a book. It's quick & easy. You won't want to miss this meeting featuring the beauty of Beth’s book creations. Let's get excited for her fun, artistic and practical workshop on November 15 & 16, 2025.

Lettering & Henna Beauty
Presented by Catherine Lent
Catherine Lent has decades of experience in both professional calligraphy and henna body art. The intersection of those two worlds will be the focus of our time together, as Catherine shows us how lettering and body art connect for her clients and students. After introducing herself and sharing samples of her work in both mediums (and others!), the guild will have an opportunity to sketch/design a “henna style” lettering piece, using pens or markers. Time for Q&A will also be offered.
Catherine started her art journey as a calligrapher and later fell in love with henna art. Join us as she shares how to marry beautiful lettering with this ancient art form.
What to have ready for the Zoom meeting:
- Colored markers of choice. The type is up to you: brush pens, chisel markers, or monoline tools
- A few sheets of paper
- A partial roll of paper towels and two rubber bands. We will use the roll to practice writing on a curved surface.
Henna is a plant which grows in the tropical climates of Africa, northern Australia, and southern Asia. The art of applying henna to the hands and feet is known as Mehndi and is traditionally used for celebrations and rites of passage.
